“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you made me welcome, lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me. ”
Mt 25: 35-36
The Ministry to the Sick is dedicated to the service of the sick and homebound, assuring that they can participate in the experience of the Holy Eucharist when they are unable to attend Mass. Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick bring the Holy Eucharist to anyone who is unable to attend Mass and provide an abbreviated Sunday service for them. The ministers remind them that they are part of the OLMM community and lots of people are praying for them.
As ministers of the Holy Eucharist to the home-bound, one is to bring Jesus to the person through love, Eucharist, Scripture, prayer, and emotional and spiritual support. The members are adult parishioners who have discerned Jesus call in their heart to visit the home-bound (any age), to bring them comfort, compassion, and healing, through the reception of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
This is a wonderfully rewarding ministry, where one has the honor of providing the holiest of sacraments to our brothers and sisters who otherwise would not be able to receive Holy Communion.
