Arts and Environment reflect our recognition of the wonder of the Lord’s real presence in our midst.
Mission
To maintain the integrity of the Church’s liturgical seasons and to create an atmosphere of welcome and spiritual expression for the honor and glory of God. We work to create a worship space conducive to prayer and centered on the Eucharistic celebration.
The purpose of the Art and Environment Ministry
The Art and Environment Ministry creates an atmosphere within the liturgical space that invites and inspires the people of God to full and conscious participation in the paschal mystery in keeping with the changing seasons of the liturgical year. The Members work in collaboration with Pastor Fr. John Vianney to enhance the Church’s environment for the liturgical year and to create a prayerful place. This ministry is responsible for the visual aesthetics of the interior church building to include the Sanctuary and the Gathering Area. Through the use of flowers, fabric, and other materials, the Art and Environment Ministry helps the parish community be drawn into the worship of the day.
This is an important function in that it not only serves to make these areas look pleasing, but it also signifies that the church is a place of importance. In this sense, while it is important to keep the whole church property nice and attractive, the primary purpose is to show honor and respect to what occurs at the ambo and the altar; that is, the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Another aspect of this notion is that the Church is to be decorated in a way to complement the liturgy and its various seasons.

Prayer of a Minister of Art and Environment
Blessed are you, O God, Creator of the universe, who has given the earth and its riches for us to cultivate. Grant that we may embrace the things of creation gratefully. We praise you for the good work manifest in the imagination and skill of those who bring beauty and delight to our worship. Guide our ministry with sacred objects and spaces that challenge and transform us. Instill in us a desire to share the talents entrusted to us to make beauty a companion of justice and peace. May your blessing be upon all who share in this good work through Christ our Lord, Amen.
